    • A security system for computers defines a control zone using radiation, preferably at radio frequency, having a distinctive characteristic, such as a particular frequency. The zone may be established, for example, at a door exit or other limited passage to a secured area. The radiation triggers a device in the computer that in turn sends out a serial number signal. To further prevent unauthorized removal a personal identification number is required of the person in the zone with the computer, either by key input or an encoded radio signal. A receiver located near the control zone applies the serial number to a table look up computer that triggers an emergency signal if a match to an authorized list of serial numbers for the computer and corresponding person does not occur. The emergency signal activates a transmitter that sends out an emergency radiation signal with a different distinctive characteristic. A second receiver in the computer then responds to the emergency radiation signal to trigger the security logic to render the computer inoperative.

    • Systems and methods that provide for voice command devices that receive sound but do not transfer the voice data beyond the system unless certain voice-filtering criteria have been met are described herein. In addition, embodiments provide devices that support voice command operation while external voice data transmission is in mute operation mode. As such, devices according to embodiments may process voice data locally responsive to the voice data matching voice-filtering criteria. Furthermore, systems and methods are described herein involving voice command devices that capture sound and analyze it in real-time on a word-by-word basis and decide whether to handle the voice data locally, transmit it externally, or both.

    • A method for providing centralized user authorization to allow secure sign-on to a computer system is disclosed. In response to a user attempting to boot up a computer system, a message is sent to a trusted server by a hypervisor within the computer to request a new hard drive password for the computer system. If the user is not authorized to access the computer system, a packet is sent by the trusted server to instruct the hypervisor to stop any boot process on the computer system. If the user is authorized to access the computer system, a packet containing a partial hard drive password is sent by the trusted server to the computer system. The packet is then encrypted with a system public key by the computer system to yield the partial hard drive password. The computer system subsequently combines the partial hard drive password with a user password to generate a new complete hard drive password to continue with the boot process.
