摘要： A method, apparatus, and carrier medium for determining channel state information (CSI) in an OFDM radio receiver. The receiver is for receiving packets of OFDM data as a result of OFDM data being transmitted. The method includes forming an estimate of the channels of the subcarriers for received OFDM data to provide frequency responses of the channels of the subcarriers, and forming a measure of quality (“channel state information,” “CSI”) for the channels of the subcarriers based on the relative strength of the frequency responses. The forming of the CSI does not require estimating the relative amount of noise or interference in each channel. The formed CSI is used in demodulating and decoding received OFDM data.

摘要： A method of etching a semiconductor substrate. The method includes the steps of applying a photoresist etch mask layer to a device surface of the substrate. A select first area of the photoresist etch mask is masked, imaged and developed. A select second area of the photoresist etch mask layer is irradiated to assist in post etch stripping of the etch mask layer from the select second area. The substrate is etched to form fluid supply slots through a thickness of the substrate. At least the select second area of the etch mask layer is removed from the substrate, whereby mask layer residue formed from the select second area of the etch mask layer is significantly reduced.

The receiver is connected to an antenna subsystem and has receive signal path including a plurality of sections including a first section coupled to the antenna subsystem and a next section. Each section has an adjustable gain and is able to provide a measure of the signal strength at its output. The method includes waiting for a start of packet indication, providing a measure of the signal strength at the output of the first section and the next section, and adjusting the gains of the first and the next sections using the provided measured signal strengths. In one embodiment, the receive signal path includes a filter, the provided measure for the first section is before the filter, and the provided measure for the second section is after the filter. The gain adjusting sets first section's gain according to the measured signal strength at the output of the first section and sets the next section's gain according to the provided measure of signal strength at the output of the next section relative to the provided measure of signal strength at the output of the first section. In one embodiment, the gain adjusting o is carried out in sequential AGC stages, one stage setting the gain of one or more sections.

The method includes determining a channel estimate for each of a set of subcarriers by receiving multicarrier data as a result of a wireless transmission of data that includes a known signal, wherein the determining uses a part of the received data that corresponds to the known signal. The method further includes smoothing the channel estimates according to a smoothing filter to form smoothed channel estimates. The smoothed channel estimate for a particular subcarrier includes a contribution from the channel estimates of one or more subcarriers nearby the particular subcarrier take advantage of correlation that may exist between the particular subcarrier's channel and the channels of the one or more nearby subcarriers. In one version, the transmitted data includes at least one additional known signal, and each smoothed channel estimate is a smoothed version of the average of sets of channel estimates. In such a version, each set of channel estimates is determined using a respective part of the received data that corresponds to a corresponding one of the known signals.

摘要： A method of making a micro-fluid ejection head structure for a micro-fluid ejection device. The method includes applying a removable mandrel material to a semiconductor substrate wafer containing fluid ejection actuators on a device surface thereof. The mandrel material is shaped to provide fluid chamber and fluid channel locations on the substrate wafer. A micro machinable material is applied to the shaped mandrel and the device surface of the wafer to provide a nozzle plate and flow feature layer on the shaped mandrel and wafer. A plurality of nozzle holes are formed in the nozzle plate and flow feature layer. The shaped mandrel material is then removed from the device surface of the substrate wafer to provide fluid chambers and fluid channels in the nozzle plate and flow feature layer.
