    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas purifying catalyst capable of improving exhaust gas purifying performance without using noble metal elements.SOLUTION: The exhaust gas purifying catalyst contains a composite oxide to which copper is supported, and alumina to which lanthanum is added. Such an exhaust gas purifying catalyst excels in cost performance because of containing copper available at a low cost, as an active component. Further, alumina to which the lanthanum is added serves as a barrier between the composite oxides to which copper is supported. The grain growth of the copper and composite oxide can thereby be restrained, and a decrease in the specific surface area of the exhaust gas purifying catalyst can be restrained. As a result, the exhaust gas purifying catalyst excels in durability and secures excellent activity over a long period of time.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas-purifying catalyst which achieves an excellent catalystic activity for a long time even at a high temperature or in an oxidation-reduction fluctuation, while reducing the usage of noble metal elements.
      SOLUTION: An exhaust gas-purifying catalyst including hexaaluminate represented by the formula SrAl

      19 carrying Pd and Fe is prepared. By using this exhaust gas-purifying catalyst, the interaction of Pd and Fe prevents the lowering of catalystic activity caused by the deterioration of Fe over a long time, and a high catalystic activity can be maintained. As a result of it, when this exhaust gas-purifying catalyst is used, an excellent catalystic activity can be achieved over a long time at a low cost even at a high temperature or in an oxidation-reduction fluctuation while reducing noble metal elements, as Fe can be used as an active ingredient.
