    • An electronic camera includes optics for focusing an image of a subject at an image plane, an area image sensor disposed at the image plane for receiving the image subject and producing a digital image having a plurality of pixels that represent the subject, and a storage structure coupled to the area image sensor for storing the digitized image of the subject. A non-emissive display for displaying an image corresponding to the stored image, includes field-driven solid phase particles disposed in a matrix that can change reflective density in the display in response to an applied electric field, and an electronic addressing arrangement including electrodes for applying voltages across the field-driven particles at particular locations corresponding to pixels in response to the stored image to produce a displayed image of the subject.

    • An insertable thermal printer cartridge for insertion into a digital camera or the like includes a housing for receiving a plurality of receivers each of which is adapted to receive colorant, and a donor supply roll for supplying a donor having colorant to a colorant transfer area and a donor take-up spool for receiving donor after colorant has been transferred. The receivers and the donor are respectively moved to the colorant transfer area where colorant is transferred from the donor to the receiver, and the housing including identifying contacts which, after the insertable thermal printer cartridge has been inserted into the device, which provide an electrical connection to identify the type of receiver and donor in the inserted insertable thermal printer cartridge and further defining a cavity for mounting at least one battery which is adapted to provide power for moving the donor and receivers and for supplying power for colorant transfer at the colorant transfer area.

    • In a method of making a single image of a scene which is the combined images of different portions of the scene, including providing first and second image capturing structures with the second image capturing structure including a moveable lens; and moving the second lens so that it captures at least one different portion of the scene but which overlaps with a first portion of the scene captured by the first image capture structure, the second image capture structure including an image sensor. The method further determines when the second lens moves across the scene to a desired position and stopping the second lens at the desired position for causing the first and second capture structure to capture overlapping images of different portions of the scene.

    • An image recording apparatus (e.g. camera) includes a laser emitter which emits a beam of laser radiation towards a scene to be recorded. A movement detector detects when the image recording apparatus is being moved at or above a predetermined magnitude such that blurred images may be recorded. A controller controls an output level of laser radiation from the laser emitter. The controller enables the laser emitter to emit laser radiation when the movement detector detects movement of the image recording apparatus at or above the predetermined magnitude and disables the laser emitter from emitting laser radiation when the movement detector detects movement of the image recording apparatus below the predetermined magnitude.
