    • The present invention relates to a wireless access system and, more particularly, to methods for efficiently performing device to device synchronization and device identification (peer discovery process) and apparatuses supporting the same. The method for supporting device to device synchronization and identification in the wireless access system to support device to device communication according to one embodiment of the present invention includes the steps of: enabling a first device to broadcast a random access channel (RACH) signal for the device to device synchronization in a peer discovery section; enabling the first device to receive a first response message transmitted from a second device in response to the RACH signal; and transmitting a message including device identification information about the first device to the second device. At this time, the first response message includes device identification information about the second device, power control information, and time-frequency control information. The first device is synchronized with the second device based on the power control device and the time-frequency control information and identifies an adjacent device based on the device identification information about the second device.
