    • 1391237 Extrusion-blow-moulding KAUTEX-WERKE REINOLD HAGEN GmbH 30 Jan 1973 [31 Jan 1972] 4572/73 Heading B5A Extrustion - blow - moulding apparatus comprises a hollow sectional mould reciprocable between a receiving station under an extrusion nozzle and a release station where the blown moulding is removed from the mould, the mould movement and the opening and closing thereof each being effected by cam followers co-operating with two cam tracks on a drive roller. As shown in Figs. 1, 2, the apparatus comprises a carriage 13 slidable on guide rods 11, 12 fixed to the machine base 37. Blow mould halves 14a, 14b are mounted on platens 19a, 19b having projections 20a, 20b pivoted to arms 21, themselves pivoted to carriage 13 at 22 and connected together at a common pivot 24 via links 23. Pivot 24 is mounted on a projection 25 of a cross-bar 26 slidable along rods 29 fixed at 30 to carriage 13. Fixed to rods 29 is a cross-bar 31. Cross-bars 26, 31 have cam rollers 32, 33 respectively fixed thereunder and engaged in cam tracks 41, 42 on a roller 34 rotated by motor 41. In operation, a preform 43 is continuously extruded from nozzle 15 and received by open mould 14 which is closed thereon by rotation of roller 34 by means of track 41, roller 32, crossbar 26 and levers 21, 23 while carriage 13 remains stationary. Carriage 13 is then moved so that mould 14 is placed under blowing nozzle 16 which is lowered into it and the parison blowmoulded thereby. During this station, roller 34 may be stationary. The mould is then opened by suitable section of track 41 and then carriage 13 moved back by a suitable section of track 42 for a further cycle. The blow mould halves may have transfer grippers to close on the blown moulding left on nozzle 16 as the mould recloses on extrudate 43 and take it to a discharge station as the carriage 13 moves back to the left. Supply of blowing air, movement of nozzle 16, &c. may be controlled by switches on control member 47 rotating with roller 34 or by a third cam track thereon. Distortion of the extrudate or moulding may be avoided during mould closing or opening by appropriate movement of carriage 13 simultaneously therewith.
