    • A flexible paper microwave package in the form of an easily expandable, nontrapping bag (18) is disclosed including a bottom wall (20) and a top wall (22) interconnected together adjacent their circular outer peripheries (20a, 22a) by first and second interconnection portions (26a, 26b). In one preferred form, the top wall (22) is formed from a first portion (22d) having an oval shaped access opening closed by an oval shaped closure portion (22e) interconnected by a seal (40) to the first portion (22d). The bottom and top walls (20, 22) expand into an opposing double domed shape as the food product is being popped, puffed, or expanded in the microwave oven. This domed shape of the bottom wall (22) keeps the food product huddled closer together and enhances the bag (18) to rock to maximize gravimetric separation. The bag (18) provides a serving bowl function when the peelable closure seal (40) has been opened providing access to the interior of the bag (18) and specifically to the popped, puffed or expanded food product located therein. An extension (42) integrally extends from the closure portion (22e) along the major axis of the oval shape. First and second pairs of extensions (54) integrally extend from diametric opposite sides of the bottom and top walls (20,22) and along the major axis of the oval shape. Slits (60,66,74) relieve the constraints of the extensions (54) to creasing and puckering of the bottom and top walls (20,22) as they expand into the opposing double dome shape.

    • A pleated neckdown bag for lining a receptacle is disclosed wherein the bag is made of a flexible plastic film. The disclosed bag has one or more pleat portions (18) fixed at points around the mouth portion (26) of the bag to reduce the circumference of the mouth portion relative to the circumference of the body portion (14). The reduced circumference mouth portion of the neckdown bag can be fitted over a supporting receptacle. The top portion (12) of the bag is thereby more securely held to the support, and the mouth portion is more securely held in an open state, since the narrowed mouth portion of the bag can better engage a support such as the rim of a waste bin. Bag embodiments having flat and flat rectangular constructions, convenient for manufacture, storage, shipping, and dispensing, are also disclosed. Also disclosed is a tabbed neckdown bag embodiment with a tab (52) modifying means to advantageously modify stress and strain at and near the conjunction of a seam and mouth portion of a neckdown bag. The tab is intended to reduce or eliminate the possibility of tearing of the bag at or near a seam in the neighborhood of the tab. The tab projects from a tab base (58), defined between first (54) and second (56) reentrant arcuate portions of a mouth edge (36), and a top seam portion (20) of the bag extends across the tab base and into the tab. Also disclosed is a tab embodiment, usable in a pleated neckdown bag having a flat construction, where inclusion of the tab does not limit certain advantages pertaining to a flat bag construction.

    • A thin-walled laminated synthetic resin body for a liquid container according to the invention comprises first and second thin-walled synthetic resin layers (10, 20), each having a curved surface portion (11, 21) and a projection (12, 22) extending outwardly from a predetermined region at an edge of the curved surface portion (11, 21). The first and second layers (10, 20) are laminated to each other with the curved surface portions (11, 21) bulging out in the same direction, are integrated with each other at the edges (13, 23) of the curved surface portions (11, 21) and projections (12, 22), and are separable from each other at regions exclusive of the edges (13, 23). When a liquid is charged, the curved surface portion (21) of one of the first and second layers (20) is separated from the curved surface portion (11) of the other layer (10) and reversed. By this, the curved surface portions bulge out in the opposite directions to define an inner space between the curved surface portions (11, 21) for containing a liquid. The laminated body has a high freedom degree of design of the container shape, can be readily formed into desired three-dimensional shape depending upon various applications, and can be manufactured simply and at low cost with conventional production system.

    • A web of bags for use in an automatic bagging machine is formed from a single layer of plastic film or a flattened tubular plastic film. When formed from the tubular material, the bags are doubled walled. The bags have lateral slits therein to accomodate opening of the bags in an automatic bagger. The bags are further configured to be received upon a track having an expandable portion that laterally displaces the bags in the web, causing them to open beneath a filling head for receipt of articles. A latter portion of the track allows the bags to resume their normally closed posture, where they are sealed and separated from each other.
