The communication method for a mobile station in which multiple interfaces complying with different communication standards are loaded includes obtaining an address that can be used for communication through every one of multiple interfaces based on information regarding a predetermined interface among the multiple interfaces; and performing communication through one of the multiple interfaces using the obtained address. The mobile station has no need to generate an IP address for each of the multiple stations.

摘要： An apparatus for and method of acquiring an address in a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) environment in a wireless LAN. The method includes: sensing that a mobile node has moved from a first network to a second network; transmitting a frame requesting association with the second network to an access point managing the second network after sensing that the mobile node has moved from the first network to the second network; and receiving a message containing an address assigned to the mobile node from the access point having received the transmitted frame. Accordingly, the mobile node can promptly acquire an IP address without an additional request.

The method includes: determining whether a predetermined packet is related to a duplicate address detection, and if the packet is determined to be related to the duplicate address detection, modifying a source address of the predetermined packet to another predetermined address different from the source address. Proper duplicate address detection can be assured even in an environment where multicast packet filtering is based on a link layer source address that follows the IEEE 802.11 standard.

摘要： An apparatus and method for supporting mobility of a mobile terminal in a wireless local area network (LAN) environment deploying mobile IP are provided. The method for registering a mobile node using a virtual mobile node comprises: detecting whether or not a mobile node traveling among a plurality of networks is connected; and registering information on the mobile node whose connection is detected, with an agent relaying communication between the mobile node and a correspondent agent. By doing so, even when a mobile IP module is not installed, the mobile node can perform wireless communication seamlessly between networks in a wireless LAN environment deploying mobile IP.

The method includes: setting the addresses of the plurality of communication adapters equal to the address of the first of the plurality of communication adapters; setting a packet filtering mode of the communication adapters other than the first communication adapter to a mode in which all packets are accepted; and switching from one of the communication adapters to another when the one communication adapter is disconnected during communication. Accordingly, seamless handoff from the wired LAN to the wireless LAN is possible, since the TCP/IP session is maintained with the same IP address.

The system includes a domain name service server, a mobile node that moves to a different network, a domain name dynamic updating server, and a correspondent node. The domain name service server manages domain names and address of a plurality of mobile nodes. Once the domain name dynamic update server receives a message including the created address by the mobile node, the domain name dynamic update server updates domain name and address of the mobile node that are registered in the domain name service server using the domain name and address contained in the received message. The correspondent node connects to the domain name service server, obtains the updated address of the mobile node, and transmits a packet to the mobile node using the obtained address.
