SOLUTION: When a medical chart information input and output processing part 21 recognizes a box enclosing a medical chart handwritten part by stroke information on a display screen and designates it as a tag, a tag information processing part 23 attaches a tag mark to a predetermined position of this box, and inputs and stores at least "enclosure stroke information" of the box as tag information in a tag information storage part 32. When generation of summary information in an area tag-marked on the screen is requested, the medical chart information input and output processing part 21 transmits description information made to stroke information within the tag-marked area to a character recognition device 4 through the tag information processing part 23, to convert them to character data. The character data are collected to a summary sentence by use of a dictionary contained in a summary information processing part 24, and a summary information storage part 33 records and holds the summary sentence as summary information corresponding to the tag information.
