SOLUTION: The radio communication apparatus employs a polar loop system having a phase control loop for controlling the phase of a carrier wave outputted from a transmission oscillator (TxVCO), and an amplitude control loop for controlling the amplitude of a transmission output signal outputted from a power amplifier circuit (210). The apparatus is constituted in such a way that transmission in a GMSK (Gaussian minimum shift keying) mode and transmission in an 8-PSK mode. 摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the modulation accuracy of a transmission waveform and spectral regrwoth and to satisfactorily suppress noises over a reception frequency band, in a radio communication apparatus such as a cellular telephone having a function of performing phase modulation and amplitude modulation. SOLUTION: In the radio communication apparatus of a polar loop system, a variable gain amplifier circuit (IVGA) and switching means (LPF2, LPF3 and SW2) capable of switching the characteristic of a loop filter providing a frequency band of an amplitude control loop to the characteristic of a filter having a degree lower than a degree at the time a normal operation are provided on a forward path from an amplitude detecting circuit (150) to a power amplifier circuit (210) which constitute an amplitude control loop. The apparatus is operated in a state that the characteristic of the loop filter is switched to the characteristic of the filter of lower degree, and an output of the power amplifier circuit is measured to determine variations in the gain of the amplitude control loop. On the basis of the result, data for correcting a gain characteristic for an output control signal of the variable gain amplifier circuit are stored in a non-volatile memory in a baseband LSI. 摘要： A polar-loop wireless communication apparatus includes, on a forward path between an amplitude detector and a power amplifier which constitute an amplitude control loop, a variable gain amplifier and a switch to change characteristics of a loop filter to output a frequency bandwidth of the amplitude control loop to an order less than an order for normal operation. The system is operated with the characteristics set to the lower order to measure outputs from the power amplifier to calibrate the output power of the power transmitter, and the register is operated with the characteristics set to the higher order to measure the open loop gain of the amplitude control. According to results of the calculation, data to correct gain characteristics of the variable gain amplifier with respect to an output control signal is stored in a nonvolatile memory of a baseband circuit.
