    • A Device-to-Device, D2D, communication between a first wireless device (D1) served by a first base station (BS1) and a second wireless device (D2) served by a second base station (BS2), is supported by employing an assisting node (406) which cooperates with the first base station by creating a network code form (f(x1,x2)) of first data (x1) transmitted by the first wireless device and second data (x2) transmitted by the second wireless device. The assisting node then transmits the network coded form of the first and second data to the first base station, such that the first base station is able to determine the second data (x2) based on the received first data (x1) and the network coded form (f(x1,x2)), and to transmit the second data to the first wireless device. Thereby, the first wireless device is able to determine the second data more accurately by combining the second data transmitted by the second wireless device in the D2D communication and the second data x2 transmitted by the first base station.

    • A method for a first communication device adapted to perform cellular network assisted device-to-device communication is disclosed. A device-to-device communication cluster of a plurality of communication devices comprises the first communication device and one or more other communication devices and a specific one of the plurality of communication devices performs a network control signal gateway function for the device-to-device communication cluster. The network control signal gateway function comprises receiving downlink control signals from a network node of the cellular network, transmitting uplink control signals to the network node of the cellular network, and operating control signaling within the device-to-device communication cluster in association with the downlink and uplink control signals. The method of the communication device comprises deciding whether or not to switch the network control signal gateway function from the specific communication device to another communication device in the plurality of communication devices. The decision is based on link quality measurements of prospect communication links between the network node and the specific communication device and between the network node and the another communication device and/or on link quality measurements of device-to-device communication links between the specific communication device and communication devices, other than the specific communication device, of the plurality of communication devices and between the another communication de communication devices, other than the another communication device, of vice and the plurality of communication devices.     • A method of transmitting a message is disclosed, wherein the method is for a vehicle-to-vehicle communication enabled device adapted to operate in accordance with a vehicle-to-vehicle communication protocol and in accordance with a cellular communication protocol for communication with a wireless communication network. The method comprises determining (110) a geographical position of the vehicle-to-vehicle communication enabled device and determining (150), based on the determined geographical position, whether at least one direction extending from the determined geographical position lacks other vehicle-to-vehicle communication enabled devices for reception of the message. If at least one direction lacks other vehicle-to-vehicle communication enabled devices for reception of the message, the method comprises transmitting (170) a report to a network node of the wireless communication network, wherein the report indicates the message. Corresponding computer program product, arrangement and communication device are also disclosed. This method ensures that safety relevant messages are always delivered to all relevant V2V enabled devices, even if the device density is too low, in that it bridges the gap by using the cellular network as a backup.

    • The present invention provides a search window delay tracking procedure for use in a multipath search processor of a CDMA radio receiver. A channel impulse response is estimated for a received signal containing plural paths, each path having a corresponding path delay. A search window defines a delay profile that contains the plural paths of the received signal. A mean or average delay is calculated for the estimated channel impulse response (CIR), and an error is determined between the mean CIR delay and a desired delay position corresponding to the center of the CIR search window. An adjustment is made to reduce that error so that the center of the search window and the mean CIR delay are aligned. The error may be processed either linearly (in one embodiment) or non-linearly (in another embodiment) to minimize the error and to reduce an influence of noise. A non-linear filtering process includes calculating a delay spread from the mean CIR delay calculated for successive processing cycles of a window delay tracking procedure corresponding to each new input. A difference is determined between the successive delay spreads. Adjustment signal is set equal to the error signal if the difference is less than or equal to a threshold. Alternatively, the adjustment signal is set to zero if the difference is greater than the threshold. Consequently, if the delay spread in the current iteration is significantly different from the delay spread in the previous iteration, the new error sample calculated in the current iteration is considered unreliable, and no adjustment is made.
