    • One embodiment of the invention includes a method for preventing a plurality of electronic devices from being pulled out of an equipment rack simultaneously. The method includes determining with an electronic sensor module whether an electronic device of a plurality of electronic devices coupled to the equipment rack is being slid out of the equipment rack. Provided the electronic device is being slid out of the equipment rack, an electronic locking module prevents any remaining electronic device of the plurality of electronic devices from being slid out of the equipment rack. A determination is made as to whether the electronic device has been slid back into the equipment rack. Provided the electronic device has been slid back into the equipment rack, the prevention is deactivated.

    • One embodiment disclosed relates to a system for power management of a group of computers. The system includes server side infrastructure (SSI) circuitry at each computer in the group and a centralized power management module (CPMM). The SSI circuitry includes local monitoring circuitry coupled to a central processing unit (CPU) of the computer. The CPMM has a management link to the SSI circuitry at each computer in the group. The local circuitry at each computer monitors power consumption at the CPU of that computer and transmits power consumption data to the CPMM. The CPMM applies a set of rules to the power consumption data to determine when and at which computers to enable and disable a CPU power throttling mode.

An electronic power switching mechanism is disposed on the server card and is configured to cause three power states of the server card including a fully operational state, a standby state, and a fully shutdown state.     • One aspect of the present invention provides a power distribution system comprising a first printed circuit board, a power supply, a processor, and a flexible cable connector. Both the power supply and the processor are mounted on the first printed circuit board. The flexible cable connector comprises a first end electrically connected to the processor and a second end electrically connected to the power supply. The flexible cable connector is configured with a length so that the power supply is in a spaced relationship relative to the processor. The flexible connector also extends between the power supply and the processor independent of the first printed circuit board. The flexible cable connector comprises a plurality of insulated power wires and a ground structure. The plurality of insulated power wires are arranged generally parallel to each other extending from the first end to the second end of the flexible cable connector. The ground structure includes a ground shield that surrounds the plurality of insulated power wires and extends from the first end to the second end of the flexible cable connector, with the ground structure configured to provide a return path for current between the processor and the power supply.
