      SOLUTION: The optical fiber hermetic terminal 10 includes: a ferrule 11 for mounting an optical fiber relating to a magnetic sensor 3 arranged inside a hydraulic resistant housing 1; a ferrule 12 for mounting an optical fiber outside the hydraulic resistant housing 1; and a hermetic terminal assembly 20 for connecting both ferrules 11, 12. The hermetic terminal assembly 20 is composed of a non-magnetic material (e.g. titanium).

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode for an undersea characteristics measuring instrument capable of stably measuring an electric field and an electric potential by eliminating the effect of noise caused by liquid-flow generated inside a case, and reducing a time required until a measurement.
      SOLUTION: An electrode 1 includes a case 10 having an opening for introducing an outside electrolyte 30 inside; an electric potential detecting element 11 consisting of Ag/AgCl, for instance, arranged in the case 10; a filter 12 mounted to the opening of the case 10; and a nonwoven cloth 15 filled in the case 10 as a liquid-flow-prevention material. If the electrode 1 is immersed into the electrolyte 30 when an electrolyte is not penetrated into the nonwoven cloth 15, the electrolyte 30 is quickly penetrated into the nonwoven cloth 15 through the filter 12 of the case 10 without causing water flow in the case 10, and the electrolyte 30 and the electric potential detecting element 11 are electrically connected well in a short period of time.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric field detector with a structure requiring no manual operation when putting in the water or the sea and having fewer components.
      SOLUTION: The electric field detector includes a housing 1 structured as shown in the figure. The housing 1 has an opening 2, a cylindrical body 1a, a spindle 1b and an annular wall 1c. The cylindrical body 1a comprises a leading end 1a1 with a small diameter and a base end 1a2 with a large diameter. Water soluble paper 3 is provided between an inner surface of an outer wall and an outer peripheral surface of the leading end 1a1 of the housing 1, and a holder 4 is provided between the inner surface of the outer wall and the outer peripheral surface of the base end 1a2 of the housing 1. The holder 4 has a spring 5 for pressing the holder 4 and an O-ring 6 in pressure contact with the outer peripheral surface of the base end 1a2. A liquid passage 7 extending from the opening 2 to a space B is closed by the water soluble paper 3 when not in use. When the detector is put in the water or the sea, the water soluble paper 3 decomposes in the liquid, scatters and disappears, and the liquid enters the space B through the opening 2 and the liquid passage 7.
