摘要： An adapter is provided for adapting an optical instrument, such as a camera (3) or a projector, to capture or display panoramic three-dimensional images. The adapter comprises a plurality of mirrors (1a, 1b, 1c), each of which has a reflective surface which is in the shape of a curved non-circular conic section rotated about an axis of symmetry (15a, 15b, 15c). The reflective surfaces have first foci which are spaced perpendicularly from a longitudinal axis of the adapter and which are angularly spaced around the longitudinal axis. For example, the conic section may be a hyperbola with first foci equidistantly spaced from the longitudinal axis and equiangularly spaced around the longitudinal axis. The axes of symmetry (15a, 15b, 15c) of the mirrors (1a, 1b, 1c) converge to intersect the longitudinal axis at a point which is coincident with the front principal point of, for example, a camera lens (12). Thus, single shot capture of all the image data for the or each panoramic three-dimensional image may be performed.

摘要： A method of processing an image comprises, if the part of the image has been determined to represent human skin applying a first noise reduction process to the part of the image, or, if the part of the image has been determined not to represent human skin, applying a second noise reduction process to the part of the image, the first noise reduction process giving an image with a higher noise and/or texture content than the second noise reduction process. The additional noise/texture present, after processing, in a part of the image that is determined to represent human skin effectively acts as a substitute for natural skin texture which may have been lost during the image capture and transmission process. The method may be applied to a still image, or to a sequence of images such as a video image.

摘要： A method is provided of processing image data for display by a display panel of a display device. Image pixel data representing an image is received. In a first processing step, the pixel data is processed to produce a multiple-view effect to a viewer. In a second processing step, for each of a plurality of subsets (kernel) of the pixel data, where each subset (kernel) comprises a same number of pixel groups (Px-1, Px, Px+1, Px+2) and each pixel group (Px-1, Px, Px+1, Px+2) comprises at least one pixel, new pixel data (Px') is derived (operation) for at least one of the pixel groups (Px) of the subset (kernel) in dependence upon the pattern (Pattern #) of pixel data in the pixel groups (Px-1, Px, Px+1, Px+2) of the subset (kernel). The deriving (operation) of the new pixel data (Px') is performed in a manner that is capable of distinguishing at least one such pattern from its inverse.
