    • In a digital hearing aid device (1) frequency modification is employed above a lower spectral bound and in accordance with a compression factor. The frequency modification is dynamically adjusted in dependence on a sound environment analysis (10) or an end-user input (30), by modifying the frequency modification parameters such as a lower spectral bound and a compression factor. The adjustment can be based on an interpolation between predefined parameters. In certain sound environments, such as loud noise, own-voice and telephone conversations, frequency modification is reduced or switched off. The proposed solutions have the advantage that the occurrence of disturbing noise and of distortions of harmonic relationships at the end-user's ear is reduced and signal processing resources as well as battery resources are saved.

The speech-bound contents is encoded in said speech-representing data in a compressed way by means of a set of encoded-speech-segment data, wherein each of the encoded-speech-segment data of the set is indicative of one speech segment, and wherein the speech-representing data comprise a multitude of the encoded-speech-segment data. And it also comprises the steps of b) deriving from the multitude of the encoded-speech-segment data audio signals representative of the speech-bound contents by composing audio signal segments derived by decoding the multitude of encoded-speech-segment data; and c) converting the so-derived audio signals into speech sound by means of an output converter of the hearing device. Preferably, the encoded-speech-segment data are MIDI data, wherein MIDI stands for Musical Instrument Digital Interface. For example, the speech-bound contents is the contents of an audio book or news to which the user wants to listen.

    • The method of operating a hearing system comprising at least two devices comprises the step of establishing a common network time among said at least two devices. Said at least two devices can be provided with information on the number of network time units that passed since a time zero point of said common network time. Information on the common network time can be communicated from one device to another device. A wireless link can be used for establishing said common network time. The common network time not only allows for a precise synchronization of events within the hearing system, but also for ordering and sequencing events. A priorization of events, like tasks and actions, is enabled, based on the common network time. Doubly-received or obsolete commands can be recognized and deleted, and tasks can be scheduled.
