摘要： A capsule dusting system is designed to expose capsules to a dusting agent in a controlled manner. The system incorporates a tumbling basket positioned within an enclosure. The tumbling basket is loaded with capsules and is rotatably connected to a drive shaft. A dust injection system meters the dusting agent into the dust injection system. The dust injection system may include a dusting injector that translates between two positions. At one position, the dusting injector is loaded with dusting agent by a powder supply system. At the other position, the dusting injector is positioned to inject the dusting agent into the tumbling basket. A gas is fluidly connected to the dusting injector to cause the dusting agent to disperse into the tumbling basket. The enclosure contains the dusting agent within the system to reduce the environmental, health, and safety hazards associated with airborne particulates.

摘要： An ingestible composition contained in a soft gel or hard shell capsule includes a digestible odoriferous oil such as a fish oil which can cause reflux or eructation odour problems on the breath of a person taking the capsule. This is reduced by including in the ingestible composition at least one surfactant, preferably in an amount of about 2 to about 20% wt, and at least one edible odour-masking ingredient such as parsley seed oil, lemon balm, lemon grass oil, fennel, peppermint oil and/or menthol.

摘要： Apparatus for producing image bearing filled gelatin capsules has guide rollers (12 and 16) for directing gelatin ribbon (2, 4) from respective casting drums to an encapsulation station (6). Along the path of at least one ribbon (4) is a transfer station (18) at which images are applied to the ribbon. The images are applied in a pattern which corresponds to the pattern of capsules formed from the ribbon at the encapsulation station (6). Both the rollers (8) at the encapsulation station, and a support roller at or adjacent the transfer station are positively driven, and a control system ensures that the peripheral speed of a support roller (16) in the transfer station (18) is the same as the speed of the ribbon into and through the encapsulation station. The drive motor for the respective support roller in the transfer station is preferably a stepping motor, adjustable to advance or retard relative to the ribbon speed in the encapsulation station (6). Sensors (28, 64) may be included to positively monitor the alignment of ribbon with the encapsulation process. Provision is also made for monitoring the lateral positioning of images on the ribbon, and for shifting the ribbon to accommodate any lateral misalignment.

摘要： A soft, chewable capsule film suitable for medicament or foodstuff encapsulation, and a method of fabricating capsules from such a film. Such capsules demonstrate fast rupture in the oral cavity, good mouth feel and chewability, and rapid dissolution of the shell components. In particular, the modified starch is substantially ungelatinized, due at least in part to the processing temperature, and may act as a water retention agent to promote hydration. Additionally, gelatins are selected for bloom strengths that result in a robust capsule that may be fabricated at a thinner wall thickness than previously experienced in the art. Accordingly, such thin capsules have a smaller mass than traditional capsules of the same size and dissolve more quickly than chewable capsules having greater thickness. The capsules may be fabricated by a rotary die process at speeds greater than those generally known for soft chewable capsules.
