    • PURPOSE: Hydrophobic surfaces are coated with a specific pretreatment and then coated with water-diluted coating during the pretreatment is yet in wet state, thus being good in coating operability and giving cured coating films with good appearance free from pinhole and cissing.
      CONSTITUTION: The same component resin as at least one of the resin components of the water-dilutable coating used for the top coating such as water-dilutable amino-alkyd resin, or along with another water-dilutable resin compatible with the former resin are dissolved in an organic solvent as isopropanol to prepare the resin solution for pretreatment. Hydrophobic surfaces are undercoated with the pretreatment, then while the coating film of the pretreatment is still in wet state, a water- dilutable coating is coated thereon as top coating. Subsequently, the films of pretreatment and top coating are simultaneously dried and cured by heating.

    • PURPOSE: To provide a composition for cationic electrodeposition coating having a pH of 6 or higher and capable of forming a film with excellent rust preventive property, prepared by reacting glycidol with a reaction product obtained from an epoxy resin and a polyamine-ketimine derivative.
      CONSTITUTION: An epoxy resin having at least two epoxy groups (e.g. obtained by condensation of bisphenol A with epichlorohydrin) is made to react with a polyamine-ketimine derivative having secondary amino and ketimine groups. Then the ketimine group is decomposed to obtain a reaction product having at least two tertiary amino groups and at least two primary amino groups. The reaction product (A) is made to react with glycidol (B) of the formula in such a ratio that (B) may be in 0.2W2mol per mol of primary amino group of (A). The resultant amino acid-containing resin is partly neutralized to have solubility (dispersibility) in water and it is used as electrodeposition coating as it is or after blended with other amino group-containing resins.

    • PURPOSE: To effectively prevent the corrosion of the part of an outer plate for the body of an automobile where corrosion is easily formed, by undercoating the desired part of the outer plate for the body of an automobile with electric conductive paint, and then electrodeposition coating it.
      CONSTITUTION: Paint dispersing powder having electric conductivity, e.g. electric conductive carbon black, in it is applied as an undercoat onto the part of an outer plate for the body of an automobile where corrosion is easily formed. The intrinsic volume resistivity of said undercoating film is made below 1×10
      6 Ω.cm. Thereafter, the undercoated plate is coated with intermediate paint, dipped in the bath of electrodeposition paint and then electrodeposition coated in a conventional manner. By this anticorrosive coating method, the formation of damages in the coating film is eliminated, so that the progress of corrosion from the damaged part can be effectively inhibited.
