    • An electrical connector comprising a binding post intended to be fixed to a suitable supporting surface such as the wall of a loudspeaker enclosure, and including an outwardly extending portion provided with a camming surface disposed spirally relative to the axis of the binding post, and an operating cap of dielectric material, desirably having at least slight elastic deformability, and provided with a conductor-receiving bore extending therethrough and disposed eccentrically relative to the axis of the binding post and cap. The lower body portion of the cap has formed therein a downwardly open cavity for partially receiving the operative portions of the binding post, whereby twisting the cap through a limited angle, substantially less than 180.degree., serves to force the bared conductor within the cap into tight conductive relation with the cammed surface of the binding post. The cap is maintained in coaxial relation with the binding post by structure both above and below the cam, including an upper stud of the binding post journaled in a central bore in the upper part of the cap, and by compressional engagement between the lower peripheral skirt of the cap and a slightly elliptical flange on the binding post, immediately beneath the cam.

    • A LAN has a wireless portion which includes access points and wireless communications devices and a wired portion which includes such things as routers, servers, and a PBX. The LAN operates in a radio frequency band where certain channels (DFS channels) are shared with a signal that is of higher priority than the communications signals transmitted and received by the access point and the wireless communications devices. If a higher priority signal is sensed on a particular channel of the wireless medium by a master device, it is necessary for all of the slave devices communicating on this channel to stop transmitting on that channel within a short period of time. The wireless communications devices are mobile and can be easily transported around in space or roam during a communications session. While roaming during a communications session, it is likely that the communications device will move out of range of an access point with which it is currently associated and possibly cause the session to end prematurely, and so it is important that a handoff procedure operates so that a communications session is continuous as the communications device roams from access point to access point. By setting and maintaining a timer dedicated to each available DFS channel, it is possible to ensure that the communications sessions is not interrupted during the roaming process in an environment were certain channels are shared with a higher priority signal.

    • A heat insulated coffee carafe for placement at the brewed coffee outlet of a coffee maker is provided with a securely fitting lid through which the coffee passes directly into the carafe without removal of the lid. When the carafe and its lid are placed in the coffee maker, mutual pressure between the lid and the coffee maker causes seals in the lid to open and permits the coffee to enter the carafe without removing the lid and with a minimal loss of heat and coffee aroma. Removal of the carafe and lid from the coffee maker automatically closes the seals to retain the heat and aroma in the carafe for long periods of use. In another embodiment a positive drip-stop seal in the coffee maker is closed automatically when the carafe is removed, whereby dripping from the coffee maker is prevented. In a further embodiment, a drip-stop seal in the coffee maker and a seal in the lid are both opened when the carafe is installed in the coffee maker. The flow capacity of the drip-stop seal is less than that of the seal in the lid, whereby flow control of the coffee is provided. Special provisions permit an unblocked exhaust flow of air while liquid is being admitted to the carafe.
