    • An vehicle seat belt includes a buckle system. The buckle system includes a seat belt buckle with a buckle face, a release button, and an opening for receiving a seat belt tongue. The buckle includes a seal positioned on the buckle face to seal the buckle face and prevent contaminants from entering the interior cavity of the buckle. Should contaminants penetrate the seal, drain holes located on the bottom side of the seat belt buckle may allow the contaminants to pass through the interior cavity of the buckle rather than harm the internal components of the seat belt buckle. Additionally, the seal, made of a flexible material, may aid in the prevention of noises that occur when the buckle comes in contact with other vehicle components.

    • Managing power modes of a computing system that includes a power supply and computing components, the power supply configured to supply power, through power supply channels, to the computing components, wherein power modes are managed by: operating the computing system in a performance power mode, including allowing each power channel to consume power greater than a predefined maximum power consumption threshold; receiving a signal representing a user's access to the computing components; and operating the computing system in a safety mode, insuring that each of the power supply channels does not consume power greater than the predefined maximum power consumption threshold, including: throttling power consumption of one or more of the computing components; monitoring power consumption of each power supply channel; and shutting down the computing system when at least one power supply channel consumes power greater than the predefined maximum power consumption threshold.

    • In a die casting machine that includes a shot cylinder having a ram for injecting metal into a die cavity, an electrohydraulic system for controlling operation of the shot cylinder includes an actuator coupled to the shot cylinder ram. A valve supplies hydraulic fluid to the actuator cylinder as a function of valve control signals. Microprocessor-based digital control electronics includes memory for storing a desired ram velocity profile as an incremental function of ram position. The control circuitry is responsive to signals from a sensor coupled to the actuator, indicative of position at the ram, for retrieving corresponding velocity signals from memory and supplying control signals to the valve as a function of such profile velocity signals. The control circuitry further includes facility for adjusting impact of the shot cylinder ram at the end of a cavity-filling stroke as a function of ram and actuator position and/or pressure, independently of the velocity/position profile, to reduce separation and flashing at the die cavity, and to reduce impact wear and fatigue on the overall die casting machine. A keyboard and associated operator display provide operator programmability and selection from a plurality of velocity/position profiles. The actuator and cylinder ram may be advanced in a manual mode of operation for adjustment and calibration proposes. A display associated with the keyboard graphically illustrates desired and actual velocity/position profiles during operation, together with a profile of actuator drive pressure verses position.

    • An electrohydraulic system for bending tube stock includes a bend head having a mandrel and an actuator coupled to a bending die for engaging the tube stock and bending the stock around the mandrel. A clamp is coupled to a second actuator for gripping the tube stock, and a third actuator mechanism in the form of a boost cylinder is coupled to the clamp for urging the tube stock lengthwise into the bend head. An electrohydraulic valve is responsive to an electronic valve control signal for variably feeding hydraulic fluid to the boost cylinder, and velocity of slip at the clamp is determined. An input pressure command signal is compared with pressure at the boost cylinder to develop a pressure error signal. Slip velocity is compared with a velocity limit command to develop a velocity difference when slip velocity exceeds the velocity limit, and the pressure error signal is modulated and employed as the valve command signal to maintain slip velocity at or below the level of the velocity limit command.
