The sensor comprises a Hall probe (12) for measuring changes in induction in the air gap (10). The Hall probe (12) is housed in one of said secondary airgaps (10, 11). The L/E ratio is greater than 6, wherein L is the width of a magnetic pole and E is the width of the main airgap (5).
