摘要： A method of preparation of an absorbent composite in which an aqueous solution containing a water-soluble radical polymerization initiator and a water-soluble ethylenically unsaturated monomer which can be converted into an absorbent polymer by polymerization is applied to a substrate, and the monomer is polymerized while the substrate to which the aqueous solution is applied is, on both the sides, held in contact with polymerization-inert surfaces facing each other. A continuous manufacturing method includes the sequential steps of continuously passing a substrate through (1) a region applying to the substrate an aqueous solution containing a water-soluble radical polymerization initiator and a water-soluble ethylenically unsaturated monomer which can be converted into an absorbent polymer by polymerization, and (2) a region of polymerizing the monomer while maintaining the substrate, on both the sides, in contact with polymerization-inert surfaces facing each other.

摘要： The present invention provides a water absorbent matter which is physically and chemically stable, difficult in shifting and falling-off of a water-absorbent resin particle and from a cellulose fiber, and thereby, has superior water-absorbent properties. A water absorbent matter like this is made by containing a water-absorbent resin particle having an acidic group such as a carboxyl group on the surface, a cellulose fiber, and a cationic high-molecular compound having a weight-average molecular weight of 2,000 or more, so that the water-absorbent resin particle is firmly set on the cellulose fiber by a cationic high-molecular compound in the presence of water.

摘要： This invention relates to a process for producing a quality-improved water-absorbent polymer in which the aqueous liquid (I), which is obtained by mixing in an aqueous medium at least one kind of a water-soluble salt (A) selected from a group of halogenated compounds, sulfates, acetates, and nitrates, which are derived from at least one kind of a polyvalent metal selected from a group of aluminum, calcium, and magnesium, with at least one kind of a water-soluble salt (B) selected from a group of monovalent metal salts and ammonium salts, which are derived from at least one kind of an oxyacid selected from a group of sulfurous acid and thiosulfuric acid, is mixed with a water-absorbent polymer (II) in a proportion of that the water-soluble salt of the polyvalent metal (A) is in a range of 0.1.about.10 parts by weight against 100 parts by weight of the water-absorbent polymer (II) and the water-soluble salt of the oxyacid (B) is in a range of 0. 1.about.10 parts by weight against 100 parts by weight of the water-absorbent polymer (II). The mixture which is obtained by mixing the aqueous liquid (I) with the water-absorbent polymer (II) has relatively-improved capacities in the fluidity and the amount of residual monomers. This invention displays a more sufficient effect by compulsorily bringing the mixture into contact with an oxygen-containing gas.

摘要： A hydrophilic polymer is denatured with a gaseous denaturant or a powdery denaturant substance made from a liquid denaturant substance. The liquid denaturant substance is made into powders by, for example, a method of mixing the liquid denaturant substance with a water-insoluble compound, a method of cooling the liquid denaturant substance to or below its melting point to turn the same into a solid state. Consequently, the hydrophilic polymer can be denatured uniformly. In case that the hydrophilic polymer is denatured with a gaseous denaturant, the hydrophilic polymer and denaturant react with each other efficiently in a safe manner regardless of the size or shape of the hydrophilic polymer. In case that the hydrophilic polymer is denatured with the powdery denaturant substance, not only the liquid denaturant substance which is substantially in the solid state can be mixed with the hydrophilic polymer, but also the denaturation timing can be readily controlled.
