摘要： An information broadcast system having a broadband broadcast system selected from cable and satellite for broadcasting requested information from a selected information source, including the Internet, to one or more selected subscriber stations includes an independent backhaul channel for communicating information request signals from a subscriber station to one or more central processing stations. The system includes a data broadcast station for transmitting requested data from the selected data source and central station via the data broadcast station to the one or more selected subscriber stations. The high-data rate broadcast station forwards requested data from a data source to the data broadcast station. A backhaul satellite communication system, independent of the broadband broadcast system, has a backhaul satellite ground terminal for coupling information request signals from backhaul satellite communication system to high data broadcast station terminal. Each subscriber station has a broadband broadcast receiver for receiving requested information broadcast by the high data rate broadcast and a satellite antenna for transmitting backhaul request signals to the backhaul satellite.

摘要： An open topped vessel for converting molten ferrous metal to steel is pivotal about a horizontal axis and has bottom tuyeres for blowing oxygen or other gases upwardly through molten metal contained therein. An enclosure at least partially surrounds the vessel and cooperates with a smoke hood to prevent the escape of pollutants when the vessel is in a generally vertical gas blowing position. The vessel is pivotable about a horizontal axis to position its open top adjacent an access door in the enclosure whereby the vessel may be charged with hot metal from a ladle or with scrap from a charging chute. A pair of bumpers are positioned adjacent the access door support beams to prevent damage thereto by the charging apparatus.

摘要： An apparatus and method is provided simultaneously to quench a tubular on the inside and outside surfaces during horizontal axial movement of the heated tubular into the apparatus. The apparatus comprises a generally cylindrical frame carrying two external and internal quench heads mounted 180.degree. apart on the cylindrical frame. The cylindrical frame is mounted for oscillatory motion about the axis of the frame through an angle of 180.degree.. A first heated tubular is delivered to the apparatus for simultaneous inside and outside quenching while the cylindrical frame is in a first position. Thereafter, the cylindrical frame and the first tubular is oscillated through 180.degree. to the second position where the first tubular may be withdrawn from the apparatus. In its second position, the second inside and outside quenching heads are in registry with the heating furnace so that a second tubular may be quenched while the first tubular is being withdrawn from the apparatus. Thereafter, the cylindrical frame and the second quenched tubular are oscillated back to the first position where the first inside and outside quenching heads are in registry with the furnace and the second quenched tubular can be withdrawn. The apparatus and method provide substantially continuous quenching of tubulars in a relatively compact apparatus having a delivery on one side only of the heating furnace.

摘要： An apparatus and method is provided simultaneously to quench a tubular on the inside and outside surfaces during horizontal axial movement of the heated tubular into the apparatus. Thereafter, the cylindrical frame and the second quenched tubular are oscillated back to the first position where the first inside and outside quenching heads are in registry with the furnace and the second quenched tubular can be withdrawn. The apparatus and method provide substantially continuous quenching of tubulars in a relatively compact apparatus having a delivery on one side only of the heating furnace.

摘要： A lance port seal for BOF vessel gas collecting hoods includes a pair of seal portions each having registrable semi-circular openings for receiving an oxygen lance therethrough. A support assembly mounts the seal members above the lance port for limited two-dimensional movement in a plane generally normal to the axis of the lance. The seal portions are also pivotally mounted on the support assembly for movement toward and away from the other member for permitting insertion and removal of the lance and for re-establishing the seal after the lance is in position.
