摘要： Injection-moldable copolyesters of terephthalate units, ethylene units and a high proportion (e.g. 82-87) mole %) of oxybenzoate units, and cookware made of such copolyesters. Process for making such copolyesters by reacting polyethylene terephthalate with p-acetoxybenzoic acid in a solvent, first at a temperature below 240.degree. C. to product a fragmented polyester, raising the temperature to split off acetic acid, then adding more acetoxybenzoic acid to raise the oxybenzoate content to more than 80 mole %.

Such polycarbonate exhibit improved hydrolytic stability and also excellent processability in molding applications.

摘要： A moldable and compatible blend of 5 to 95 weight percent polycarbonate comprising from about 20 weight percent to 100 weight percent of repeating units (I) having the formula ##STR1## and from 0 weight percent to about 80 weight percent of repeating units (II) having the formula ##STR2## in which the repeating units (I) and the repeating units (II) are connected by interbonding units (III) having the formula ##STR3## wherein Y is selected from alkyl groups of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, chlorine or bromine, each Z, independently, has a value of from 0 to 4 inclusive, n has a value of 0 or 1, and R.sub.1 is a divalent saturated or unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon radical, O, CO, SO.sub.2, S or a direct bond, with the proviso that when R.sub.1 is SO.sub.2 then repeating unit (II) is not the same as repeating unit (I), and 95 to 5 weight percent of a styrenic polymer.

摘要： An improved process for preparing a polyarylate having a reduced viscosity of from about 0.1 to greater than 1.0 dl/gm comprising the following steps:(a) reacting an acid anhydride derived from an acid containing from 2 to 8 carbon atoms with at least one dihydric phenol to form the corresponding diester; and(b) reacting said diester with at least one aromatic dicarboxylic acid at a temperature sufficient to form the polyarylate, wherein the improvement comprises carrying out said process in the presence of a particular solid adsorbent.
