摘要： An improved plastic optical fiber and a process for fabricating the same are disclosed. The plastic optical fiber comprises a core and a cladding is formed around the core that has a lower refractive index than that of the core. The cladding consists of an inner transparent cladding and an outer colored, opaque cladding. These inner and outer claddings are formed to be bonded together by simultaneous extrusion thereof.

摘要： PURPOSE:To make an electronic apparatus small-sized even when the shape of an enclosure is complicated and to reduce the labor required for its manufacture by a method wherein a display element is installed on the faces of the enclosure for the electronic apparatus and an electronic circuit is formed, by an electroless plating operation, on at least one face of the enclosure. CONSTITUTION:A display element 1 is formed on the face of an enclosure 5 for an electronic apparatus; an electronic circuit 11 including the drive circuit of the display element is formed, by an electroless plating operation, on at least one face of the enclosure 5. Thereby, the element 1 and the circuit 11 are united to the enclosure 5, and the circuit 11 can be constituted in a three-dimensional shape. As a result, the enclosure 5 can be formed in a complicated shape, and, at the same time, the electronic apparatus as a whole can be made small-sized. That is to say, it is not required to install a separate printed wiring board in order to house at least the peripheral circuit for the element 1 and the shape of the enclosure 5 can be selected to be an optimum shape so as to make it small-sized. In addition, it is not required to attach a printed wiring board to the enclosure 5 and to align the element 1 with a glass window 4 when it is attached. As a result, the labor required for the manufacture of the electronic apparatus can be reduced.

摘要： PURPOSE:To eliminate influence of the stress generated at the time of heating, etc., on light transmission characteristic by adding a light absorptive material such as pigment to a sheath layer. CONSTITUTION:The light absorptive material such as carbon black is added to the sheath layer 2 enclosing a core layer 1. Namely, the sheath layer 2 contg. the light absorptive material such as pigment is extrusion-coated, by which the layer having the function as the sheath layer and the function to shut off the light from the outside in combination is simultaneously formed. The amt. of the carbon to be added to the sheath layer is adequately 0.03-5wt.%, more preferably 0.2-1wt.% in terms of both the transmission loss and the shut off characteristic of the external light. The external light is thereby shut off without degrading the transmission characteristic even in a heated state and the stable light transmission is enabled.

摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain a connector for optical fibers which does not increase a connection loss even if there is the mis-alignment of the optical fibers in a high-temp. state by decreasing the connection loss and enabling attachment and detachment. CONSTITUTION:The optical fibers 1a, 1b consist of cores 11a, 11b in which light is transmitted and clads 12a, 12b having a low refractive index. The connector 3 for the optical fibers consists of a recessed type connector 31, projecting type connectors 32a, 32b and a rubber elastic body 33. The rubber elastic body 33 is constituted of a blank material which is high in the refractive index of the central part and low in the refractive index on the outer side. The connector 3 for the optical fibers is inserted with the optical fibers 1a, 1b carrying the projecting type connectors 32a, 32b from both ends of the recessed type connector 31. The rubber elastic body 33 is interposed in the position where the end faces of the two optical fibers 1a, 1b come into contact in the recessed type connector 31. Since the optical fibers 1a, 1b are connected in such a manner, there are no more air layers in the connecting end faces of the optical fibers.

The synthetic resin substrate 5 is constituted of a material having the higher mechanical strength than the mechanical strength of the skin layer 8 and having high heat resistance. The skin layer 8 is constituted of a material having the refractive index lower than the refractive index of the core 3. A cleaning body having the good sliding characteristic to remove the dust, etc., by sliding with an object to be detected is provided on the substrate at the time of forming this synthetic resin optical transmission body 1 as an object detecting sensor.

CONSTITUTION:The light signal of an optical cable core part is entered into a transmission line 3a and branched by a branch part 3b and part of the branched light signal is entered into a photodetector 1 through a transmission line 3c. The other branched light signal is passed through a transmission line 3d, sent to a light signal output side, and projected from the output side. When an optical cable is connected to the output side similarly to the input side, the light signal is sent from the output side of the optical branching and coupling transmission line 3 to the optical cable core part. The light signal from a light emitting element 3 is sent through a transmission line 3e, coupled by a coupling part 3f with the light signal which is previously transmitted, and projected from the output side of the optical branching and coupling transmission line 3. Thus, one light signal is branched and transmitted or the light signal is multiplexed and transmitted.

摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain the inexpensive optical circuit board which has superior optical characteristics and large mechanical strength by constituting a clad part in two-layered structure of a substrate and a skin layer covering its surface. CONSTITUTION:The clad part is constituted in the two-layered structure of the substrate 1 and the skin layer 2 which covers its surface; and the substrate 1 of the clad part is formed of a material which has larger mechanical strength and higher heat resistance than the skin layer 2, which is formed of a material which has a lower refractive index than a core part 1. Consequently, only the skin layer positioned at the periphery of the core part is considered as to the low refractive index of the clad material 1 and an inexpensive material which is easily obtained in consideration of mechanical strength and heat resistance can be selected as the substrate material of the clad part 1 without considering the refractive index. Namely, the mechanical strength and heat resistance of the clad part of the optical circuit board are obtained with the substrate and the optical characteristics are realized with the skin layer; even when inexpensive fluororesin of several mum order in actual use is used for the skin layer, the price is made lower than before.

摘要： PURPOSE:To improve radiation without deteriorating transmission characteristics by copolymerizing org. carboxylic acid and the lead salt of the org. carboxylic acid with an optical fiber consisting of a PMMA system. CONSTITUTION:The core is constituted of the copolymer of the monomer compsns. of the org. carboxylic acid, the lead salt thereof and methyl methacrylate. The polymer components forming the core area 60 to 98wt.% content of methacrylic acid, 1 to 40wt.% content of the org. carboxylic acid and 0.1 to 30wt.% content of the lead salt of the org. carboxylic acid. The lead salt of the org. carboxylic acid has excellent transparency and radiation resistance and, therefore, the dispersibility of the lead ions in a resin is improved and the radiation resistance characteristics are uniformized and stabilized if the org. carboxylic acid is copolymerized in combination at the time of copolymerizing this lead salt.
