    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To positively prevent double feeding of sheets of paper regardless of fluctuation of paper quality, environment or the like and to exhibit paper feeding action with high reliability.
      SOLUTION: In the paper feeding device, the sheets of paper are previously easily separated by blowing air from an air blowing fan 25 to the sheets of paper stored in a paper feed tray 31 and double feeding is prevented. It is detected that double feeding occurs utilizing a paper sensor 44 at a downstream side of a pair of separation rollers 42, it is determined that possibility of occurrence of double feeding is enhanced when generation of a sign of the double feeding is counted at a predetermined number, and an air amount of blown air is increased. A temperature of air is heated instead of an air amount, air may be blown to the paper at a suitable temperature, and both air amount and temperature may be suitably adjusted.
