    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a β type titanium alloy which achieves a low elastic modulus without using expensive Ta having a high melting point, has a mechanical strength that is equal to or higher than that of a conventional material, and has superior biocompatibility.
      SOLUTION: The β type titanium alloy includes, by mass%, 10.5 or more but less than 25% Nb, 0.1 to 10% Zr, and one or more of 0.1 to 10% Mo, 0.1 to 8% Cr, 0.1 to 5.8% Mn, 0.1 to 4% Fe, while satisfying the expression of X=Mo+1.25Cr+1.7Mn+2.5Fe: 4 to 10 and the expression of (Nb/3.5)+X: 11 to 13, wherein the symbols of elements in the expressions represent a content (mass%) of each element. The alloy obtains an elastic modulus of 80 GPa or less.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a titanium alloy in which the reduction of elasticity and cost reduction can be achieved compared with the conventional one.
      SOLUTION: The titanium alloy comprises, by mass, 5 to 15% Cr, 1 to 8% Al and 0.01 to 0.5% O, and the balance Ti with inevitable impurities, and whose Young's modulus after solution treatment is ≤85 GPa. The titanium alloy may comprise at least one element selected from the group consisting of B and Si in 0.01 to 0.5 mass%. Alternatively, the alloy may comprise at least one element selected from the group consisting of C and N in 0.01 to 1.0 mass% in total with the O. Alternatively, the alloy may comprise at least one element selected from the group consisting of Sn and Zr in 1 to 8 mass% in total with the Al. Further alternatively, the alloy may contain 0.01 to 2.0 mass% of Fe.
