    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber cable from which taking out of a desired single core cable of optical fiber is facilitated when branching and which hardly causes an increase in transmission loss for a long time in spite of a variance in a peripheral environment.
      SOLUTION: The optical fiber cable has an optical fiber unit composed of three or more single core cables, tension members which are separated by a specified distance from the optical fiber unit by a prescribed gap and are arranged in parallel in a longitudinal direction, and a sheath having an approximately rectangular section which directly coats the optical fiber unit and tension members and has two parallel sides made parallel with a line connecting respective centers of the optical fiber unit and tension members, wherein individual single core optical fiber cables are closely arranged in parallel so that each single core optical fiber cables constituting the optical cable unit forms a regular triangle together with two adjacent single core optical fiber cables.

      SOLUTION: The optical fiber cable 1 comprises a slot core 7, having a slot groove 5 which houses the optical fiber 3; and a sheath 9 which covers the periphery of the slot core 7. An eccentric sheath structure is one in which the sheath 9 has the sheath thickness, which is relatively thicker on the side of an open part 11 of the slot groove 5 than on the opposite side of the open part 11 of the slot groove 5. Furthermore, Y-axis is set as the direction connecting the center of the open part 11 of the slot groove 5 passing through the center C of the cable, in the cross section perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the optical fiber cable 1, and X-axis is set as the direction passing through the center C of the cable and perpendicular to the Y-axis, linear bodies are disposed on the Y-axis and/or, in the vicinity thereof so that the Y-axis becomes a neutral line for bending of the cable, and the position of the optical fiber 3 housed in the slot groove 5 substantially coincides with the Y-axis.
