    • PURPOSE: To provide a system capable of still more effectively recovering carbon dioxide and other substance to be adsorbed from an oxygen-containing fed substance by using an alkanolamine based adsorbent for enhancing the grade of the fed substance. CONSTITUTION: Lean fed gas 1 is sent to a blower 2 to be compressed and this compressed lean fed gas 3 is sent to the lower part of an adsorption tower 4 from the blower 2. An adsorbent 6 is a fluid containing at least one alkanolamine species being primary or secondary alkanolamine and the lean fed gas rises against the flowing-down adsorbing material in the adsorption tower 6. As the lean fed gas rises, almost all of carbon dioxide and a small amt. of other substance to be adsorbed in the gas are adsorbed by the flowing- down adsorbent and vapor reduced in the content of carbon dioxide is collected at the upper position of the adsorption tower 6 and the adsorbent loaded with carbon dioxide containing dissolved oxygen is collected at the bottom position thereof.

    • PURPOSE: A process of recovering carbon dioxide by absorption of the carbon dioxide from lean carbon dioxide sources such as flue gases from combustion sources and the subsequent separation and recovery of the carbon dioxide from the recovery solvent is provided. CONSTITUTION: The process for recovering carbon dioxide comprises the steps of (i) passing feed gas comprising carbon dioxide at a partial pressure of 10 psia or less in mass transfer contact with recovery solvent comprising water, from 5 to 35 weight percent of at least one fast reaction rate amine such as diethanolamine, and from 5 to 50 weight percent of at least one slow reaction rate amine such as methyldiethanolamine; (ii) passing carbon dioxide from the feed gas to the recovery solvent to produce carbon dioxide depleted gas and carbon dioxide loaded recovery solvent; (iii) separating carbon dioxide from the carbon dioxide loaded recovery solvent to produce carbon dioxide rich fluid; and (iv) recovering carbon dioxide rich fluid as product carbon dioxide.

    • PURPOSE: A system for recovering absorbate such as carbon dioxide from an oxygen containing mixture wherein carbon dioxide is concentrated in an alkanolamine containing absorption fluid, oxygen is separated from the absorption fluid, and carbon dioxide is steam stripped from the absorption fluid and recovered. CONSTITUTION: The method for recovering carbon dioxide comprises the steps of (i) passing a feed mixture comprising oxygen and carbon dioxide in countercurrent mass transfer contact with absorbent comprising at least one alkanolamine, and passing oxygen and carbon dioxide from the feed mixture into the absorbent to obtain carbon dioxide loaded absorbent containing dissolved oxygen; (ii) separating oxygen from the carbon dioxide loaded absorbent to obtain oxygen depleted carbon dioxide loaded absorbent; (iii) heating the oxygen depleted carbon dioxide loaded absorbent to obtain heated carbon dioxide loaded absorbent; (iv) separating carbon dioxide from the absorbent to obtain a carbon dioxide rich fluid; and (v) recovering carbon dioxide rich fluid.
