摘要： Since determining how fresh foods and drinks are is in many cases subjective and ambiguous, an active study on technologies of detecting freshness by means of a semiconductor gas sensor has been conducted. However, a gas detection excellent in responsiveness and in durability has not successfully been made with gases such as ethylene, ethanol, aldehydes, mercaptans, amines that are important in the freshness detection of vegetables and fruits. A gas sensor comprising an insulating substrate (1), a pair of thin−film electrodes (2) provided on the substrate (1) with a specified interval therebetween, a gas sensitive thin film (3) provided so as to substantially fill at least the specified interval and having a metal oxide, and a catalyst activity protection layer (5) formed so as to cover the surface exposed to the outside of the metal oxide.

摘要： In order to improve the humidity resistance of a gas sensor, it is possible to take measure by forming a protective layer on a gas sensing body that senses gas; however, the sensitivity tends to lower because it becomes hard for gas to reach the gas sensing body surface. Further, in use in a high humidity state, dew formation occurs due to changes in atmospheric temperature, etc., and moisture permeates the protective layer, thus presenting the problem that the moisture tends to degrade the sensing body. The device comprises a support substrate (4), a pair of sensor electrodes (3) formed on the support substrate (4), a gas sensing body (2) formed at least between the sensor electrodes, and a protective member (1) formed to directly or indirectly cover at least the gas sensing body, hydrophobicized, and composed of porous material.
