    • In order to improve the humidity resistance of a gas sensor, it is possible to take measure by forming a protective layer on a gas sensing body that senses gas; however, the sensitivity tends to lower because it becomes hard for gas to reach the gas sensing body surface. Further, in use in a high humidity state, dew formation occurs due to changes in atmospheric temperature, etc., and moisture permeates the protective layer, thus presenting the problem that the moisture tends to degrade the sensing body. The device comprises a support substrate (4), a pair of sensor electrodes (3) formed on the support substrate (4), a gas sensing body (2) formed at least between the sensor electrodes, and a protective member (1) formed to directly or indirectly cover at least the gas sensing body, hydrophobicized, and composed of porous material.
