[Class 139.] A clock in which an alternating current supply, used for other purposes such as lighting or power, is also used to synchronise the clock continuously with the oscillations of the current and to energize a motor 1 which winds up the mainspring, has a device for adjustably damping the escapement which consists in tapping the field magnet flux of the motor on to pole-pieces 8, 10 with adjustable gap, which pieces act upon a soft iron member 11 on the balance wheel 6, the soft-iron being also energized by a permanent magnet 12 (e.g. of cobalt steel). Laminated members 3, 4 are attached to the two poles of the magnetic portion 2 of the motor 1 to give a magnetic leakage intended for synchronization. A soft iron piece 7 on member 3 carries the screw pole-piece 8 and a soft iron piece 9 on member 4 carries the screw pole piece 10. These adjustable poles 8, 10 are in line and are opposite the soft iron member 11 on the balance when the latter is at rest. The magnet 12 is adjustably mounted on the movement relatively to piece 7, by a cap 13. The member 11 is a U-shaped piece of soft sheet iron, the legs of the U gripping the sides of the balance rim.

摘要： A combination closure assembly and container wherein the threaded neck of the container includes two series of notches along the base thereof and wherein the closure is provided with a tamper indicating guarantee strip which is lockingly engaged with a first of the series of notches so that the strip will be severed from the remaining portion of the closure assembly if access is attempted into the container and wherein the closure assembly also includes a conical sleeve which is engageable with the second of the series of notches upon the severance of the guarantee strip in such a manner as to prevent the closure assembly from being removed from the container.
