    • A display board 10 for displaying information about a disease such as AIDS consists of a base 12 with two first areas 14A, 14B raised above the surface of the base 12 and six second areas 16A, 16B, 16C, 16D, 16E and 16F raised above the surface of the base 12. The first areas 14A, 14B bear information on how AIDS can be contracted or avoided and include objects, e.g. syringes moulded in relief thereon. The second area 16A to 16F bear information on how AIDS can not be caught and include objects moulded in relief thereon such as mosquitos, toilets and the like. The display board is designed to be eye catching and thus to disseminate the information on the disease widely and effectively.

    • 214,355. MacIntyre, P. M. Jan. 31, 1923. Copying telegraphs. - Relates to copying telegraphs of the kind in which a strip, bearing the matter to be reproduced in the form of conducting elements on a non-conducting surface, or vice versa., is fed through a transmitting apparatus under a series of contact fingers arranged transversely of the direction of motion of the strip, the fingers being electrically connected to contacts on a rotary distributor to enable impulses from successive fingers to be sent to line and to a similar synchronous distributor controlling the recording devices at the receiving station, synchronism being ensured by reserving contacts on the distributors for the transmission of correcting currents. To obtain a more accurate reproduction, the strip is fed intermittently so that the strip and the contacts are relatively stationary during the passage of current between them. The strip 6 passes over a guide 11 beneath the pointed lower ends of contact fingers 12 arranged in a transverse row and capable of a slight vertical displacement and is held against the fingers by a spring-pressed contact bar 13 of triangular crosssection. The strip is drawn along by rollers 14, 15 one or both of which is driven through gearing from the motor-driven shaft 28 of the rotary distributor, an intermittent movement of the strip being obtained by the use in the gearing of a single-toothed wheel 37. During the insertion of the strip the guide 11 and the roller 15 are held down by pressing on a lever 14 . Each finger 12 is connected by a wire 23 to a corresponding terminal 22 connected by a wine 24 to a corresponding contact 25 on the rotary distributor, and an arm 27 of conducting material, secured to but insulated from the shaft 28, carries a brush 29 moving over the contacts 25, and is in electrical connection with a slip ring 32 on the shaft. Leads 31, 33 connect the slip ring 32, and the bar 13 in circuit with a battery 30 and the coil 43 of the transmitting relay. The contacts of the distributor at the receiving station are connected to fingers corresponding to the fingers 12 bearing on an intermittently-moving strip which has been moistened by passage over a roller dipping into a liquid suitable for effecting an electro-chemical marking action. Preferably a battery is arranged at the receiving station to increase the marking current and to neutralize the spacing current.
