    • A very small displacement enlargement mechanism is disclosed, in which a first stationary frame and a second movable frame are disposed on the opposite sides of a piezoelectric element for producing a strain in a longitudinal direction according to an applied voltage. A movable member consisting of a plurality of elements linked together into a substantially parallelogrammic form is disposed between the two frames such as to surround the piezoelectric element. An element of the movable member or the side of the first frame is united integrally to the first frame, and another element which is on the side of the second frame and faces the first-mentioned element is united integrally to the second frame. The strain of the piezoelectric element produces a relative displacement of the two frames via the movable member, and the relative displacement is transmitted as an enlarged output to a drive wire. A printing head has a plurality of radially spaced-apart mounting grooves, and a printing unit having the above construction is mounted in each of the mounting grooves.

    • A screen setting apparatus accurately locks a screen in position so that reference marks of the screen come directly in line with reference marks of a printing table, which table secures a sheet material to be printed. The apparatus comprises three registration devices, a screen having reference marks thereon, a screen fixing device, and a printing table securing a sheet material to be printed and having reference marks. The three registration devices are a first registration device, the reference mark of the printing table corresponding to a fixed relationship of the second registration device (i.e., a reticle) and a third registration device. The reticle is lined up with the reference mark of the screen and then the screen is locked in opposition by connecting the screen fixing device with the first registration device.

    • A sheet postprocessing apparatus includes a magazine unit and a clincher unit. The magazine unit has a driver which is vertically movable relative to a magazine for storing staple sheets. The clincher unit has a clincher holder, a driving mechanism for vertically moving the clincher holder, and a driving source of the driving mechanism. The magazine unit and the clincher unit are disposed vertically opposite to each other. In the sheet postprocessing apparatus, a material to be stapled is inserted between the magazine unit and the clincher unit. The clincher holder of the clincher unit is moved closer to the magazine unit by using the driving source so that a staple may be passed through the material and bent.

    • In a serial printer having a single type wheel, the type wheel is rotatably supported on a rocking frame, which is rockable relatively to a fixed frame, so as to be fixed with respect to the direction of the axis of rotation, and is rotated by means of a single drive motor. A drive transmission mechanism between the motor and the type wheel includes a main shaft rotatably supported by the rocking frame and a main cam rotatable in one with the main shaft. Each revolution of the main shaft and the main cam is divided into at least three rotational angular ranges, which are allotted individually for operation processes of type selection, printing, and sheet feed. All these processes are executed with use of the single drive motor as a drive source. A sheet holding mechanism continuously maintains a paper hold state until a specific character, such as an end mark, is printed after the start of a printing cycle. A printing sheet is held and released by means of the aforesaid drive motor as the drive source. The sheet feed pitch is adjusted in accordance with another specific character, such as a comma, and a sheet feed mechanism for the adjustment is driven by means of power transmitted through the main cam.
