    • A vehicle air conditioner that can increase the range of energy-saving operation by stopping an engine without impairing the air conditioning comfort and a method for controlling the vehicle air conditioner are provided. The vehicle air conditioner includes a compressor (3) that is driven by an engine (2) to compress a refrigerant, a heat radiator (4) that radiates heat from the compressed refrigerant, an expansion valve (5) that decompresses the refrigerant from which the heat is radiated, a heat absorber (6) that makes the decompressed refrigerant absorb heat, an input unit (8) to which selection information about an air-conditioning priority mode and an energy-saving priority mode is input, and a control unit (9) that selects one of a threshold related to the air-conditioning priority mode and a threshold related to the energy-saving priority mode on the basis of at least the selection information input to the input unit (8) and outputs one of an idle-stop permission request, an idle-stop prohibition request, and an idle-stop cancellation request to the engine (2) on the basis of the selected threshold.

    • A dial type switch mechanism is developed in which an installation space can be made as small as possible. In a dial type switch mechanism (10) furnished with a push type switch part provided in its center, and a dial switch part which operates a dial fitted around the push type switch part, there are provided: a substantially cylindrical dial knob (21), in the center of which a cavity is provided for the push type switch part to be installed; a ring-shaped joint ring (23), which is supported such that it can rotate freely relative to a front panel (6) and connects and rotates together with the dial knob (21); and a rotary bracket (24), which is joined to the joint ring (23), and in which a switch rotation shaft (24b) that operates the dial type switch part is connected together with a ring-shaped member (24a) via an arm (24c).

    • In a vehicular air conditioner, in which an air flow passage for directing air sucked horizontally through a suction port upward in a casing having a plurality of blowout ports at the upper part and said suction port at the lower part, and an evaporator, air mix damper, heater, and blowout mode switching damper for selectively switching the plural blowout ports are arranged in the air flow passage, the evaporator can be replaced easily and rapidly, and the contamination of the surroundings, caused by the drain which drops from the evaporator when the vehicle is inclined and flows back into the blower case and drops from it by leaking, is prevented. For this purpose, the evaporator is disposed at a portion where the direction of air changes from horizontal to upward in the air flow passage so as to be tilted in such a manner that the suction port side end thereof is high than the opposite side end, and the casing is divided into a plurality of sections, and also one of the divided casings forms the upper half part of the suction port and is configured as an evaporator detachable cover for covering one side of the evaporator so that the evaporator can be pulled out of the casing by removing the cover.
