摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contrast agent for diagnostic imaging which exhibits improved blood retention. SOLUTION: The contrast agent for diagnostic imaging comprises (a) an image enhancing moiety (IEM), (b) a plasma protein binding moiety (PPBM), and (c) a blood half-life extending moiety (BHEM) and demonstrates at least about 10% binding to plasma protein and demonstrates, in a rat plasma pharmacokinetic experiment, an area under the plasma concentration versus time curve from 0 to 10 minutes which is at least about 20% greater than that observed for the combination of the IEM and PPBM alone without the BHEM. This agent may be targeted to the blood pool or any other biological component. Since this agent is lost less rapidly from the bloodstream, lower doses can be used at a higher margin of safety.
