摘要： Wireless hands-free system with silent user signaling. Silent alerting capability is provided for any hands-free device that relies on a short-range, wireless connection to interface to a terminal. The silent alerting action can be provided by any non-audible signaling mechanism, for example a vibrator or a light. A hands-free device establishes the short-range wireless connection with the communication terminal in question. When an alert message, such as for an incoming call, is received over the short-range wireless connection, the silent alerting action is produced in response to the alert message. The invention can find use in any wireless hands-free device, for example, a “Bluetooth” headset.

摘要： Disclosed is an antenna mounted on a dielectric card with three pairs of dipoles. The dielectric card may be made of epoxy or epoxy glass or Teflon with glass fibers or any plastic with low dielectric loss and/or glass. Each dipole pair is designed to resonate at a different frequency band. Thus, for instance, a first pair provide signals in 800 MHZ range, a second dipole pair provide signals in the 1900 MHZ range and a third dipole pair provide signals in the 2400 MHZ range. With multiple dipoles the antenna can be used to provide wireless communications for several different frequency bands. The antenna card may hingeable or slideably mounted to a mobile computer. Thus, using a single antenna card a mobile computer can operate in several different frequency bands.

摘要： A radio communication device modulates a received audio signal with an intermediate frequency (IF) signal before mixing with the radio frequency (RF) waveform for transmission by an antenna. A voltage controlled oscillator is utilized, which is tuned to N times the desired IF frequency. This voltage controlled oscillator is frequency modulated with the inputted audio signal to a deviation N times the desired IF source deviation. The voltage controlled oscillator is locked in a phase locked loop with a system reference frequency so that the output frequency is N times the desired IF frequency. The output of the voltage controlled oscillator is supplied to a “divide-by-N” frequency prescaler for generating a signal at precisely the right IF frequency and deviation.

摘要： Method and system for registration of licensed modules in mobile devices. The present invention provides for a registration system to determine active use of licensed modules installed in mobile devices such as wireless cellular terminals and PDA's. The registration system can be made to operate in a manner that is substantially transparent to the user of the mobile device. In example embodiments, a module handler within the processor platform of the mobile device collects module parameters as necessary and causes registration messages to be assembled and sent. In some embodiments, encryption is provided. User interaction with the registration process can also optionally be accommodated. Additionally, the module handler can direct that use of the software module or package is restricted until an acknowledgement is returned from the module activation system, confirming the registration.
