摘要： A disposable absorbent garment includes a topsheet, a backsheet, and an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and the backsheet. The topsheet, the backsheet, and the absorbent core form a layered assembly including a front region, a back region, and a crotch region disposed between the front region and the back region. The garment is characterized by a vertical longitudinal plane that extends substantially centrally through the front, back and crotch regions. Each of the front and back regions includes a pair of ear portions extending in substantially opposite lateral directions with respect to the longitudinal plane. Each ear portion is a breathable stretchable layer assembly having a plurality of vent sites. Further, each ear portion includes an outer layer that is an extension of the backsheet and which extends laterally to the side edge of the ear portion, and an inner layer that is an extension of the topsheet and which also extends laterally to the side edge of the ear portion. The ear portion also includes a stretchable material layer secured between the inner layer and the outer layer. The topsheet includes a central section that is generally disposed in a center section of the garment and over the core. Each of a pair of side sections of the topsheet extends laterally and forms the inner layer of two of the ear portions. The side section also forms an outer wall section of a leg cuff that extends longitudinally along the lateral side of the core. An inner wall section of the leg cuff is a portion of a substantially impervious material that extends below the leg cuff to sealingly engage the side edge of a polymeric film barrier disposed underneath the core. The substantially impervious material and the polymeric film barrier combine to form a substantially impervious containment structure about the sides and bottom of the core.

摘要： A disposable absorbent article defined by a pair of longitudinally extending side edges and a pair of end edges extending between the side edges, has a front waist region, a back waist region, and a crotch region located between the waist regions. The disposable absorbent article also includes a topsheet, a backsheet, and an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and the backsheet. The topsheet is provided with a plurality of openings which direct bodily exudates received into or by the crotch region to a storage space disposed below the topsheet. The topsheet is spaced generally upward from the core such that the storage space is disposed between the topsheet and the core. The disposable absorbent article further includes at least one or more elongated elastic strands which are attached to the topsheet so as to space or urge the topsheet generally upwardly from the core. Moreover, portions of the topsheet between the elastic strands are tacked down to create depressions between the strands and each of the openings are located generally in one of these depressions.

摘要： In a method of forming a composite web structure that is finishable to form a disposable absorbent garment, a topsheet assembly is formed having a pair of longitudinally-extending, elasticized leg cuffs. The topsheet assembly is then applied on a core assembly to create a first web structure assembly. A backsheet assembly is also formed which includes a backsheet material, and this backsheet assembly is applied on the first web structure assembly to form a second web structure assembly. Then, the second web structure assembly is cut at one or more locations to form the finishable composite web structure. The step of forming a topsheet assembly generally includes providing two webs of topsheet material and two webs of elastic material; applying each web of elastic material onto one of the webs of topsheet material to form two subsequent webs; and folding each of the subsequent webs about the elastic material to create an assembly having elasticized leg cuffs. Further, the step of forming a topsheet assembly generally includes the steps of providing a first web and a second web of a polymeric liner material, respectively, and applying the first web of polymeric liner material onto one of the webs of topsheet material and the second web of polymeric liner material onto the other web of topsheet material. Each web of polymeric liner material is applied adjacent a web of the elastic material and such that, in a subsequent folding step, a leg cuff is created having one layer of the topsheet material, a second layer of the polymeric liner material and elastic material therebetween.

摘要： A disposable absorbent article is disclosed that is partially defined by a pair of longitudinally extending side edges and a pair of end edges extending between the side edges, and includes a topsheet layer, a backsheet layer, and an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and the backsheet. The disposable absorbent article also has a pair of side wall structures each having a pair of oppositely positioned end portions. A first side wall structure extends generally longitudinally between the core and one of the side edges and the other side wall structure extends generally longitudinal between the core and the other side edge. Further, an end strip constructed from an elastic material is positioned substantially adjacent each one of the end edges, and extends laterally between the side edges. Each of the end strips includes a fixed elastic end section disposed adjacent the end edge and secured to the topsheet, a fixed intermediate section positioned longitudinally inward of the fixed end section, and a movable, elastic inward section positioned longitudinally inward of the intermediate section.

The ear portion also includes a stretchable material layer secured between the inner layer and the outer layer. The topsheet includes a central section that is generally disposed in a center section of the garment and over the core. Each of a pair of side sections of the topsheet extends laterally and forms the inner layer of two of the ear portions. The side section also forms an outer wall section of a leg cuff that extends longitudinally along the lateral side of the core. An inner wall section of the leg cuff is a portion of a substantially impervious material that extends below the leg cuff to sealingly engage the side edge of a polymeric film barrier disposed underneath the core. The substantially impervious material and the polymeric film barrier combine to form a substantially impervious containment structure about the sides and bottom of the core.
