    • 664,588. Impact pulverizers. BITTNER, A., and CYCLOMAT DOMINIONS CORPORATION, Ltd. Nov. 24, 1949, No. 30186/49. Class 59. In a cyclone disintegrator of the type having a rotor formed with guide vanes revolving in a peripheral ring of pockets inclined .forwardly in the direction of rotation of the rotor, the rotor disc 5 adjustably mounted on the shaft 4 has beater vanes 26 and guide vanes 28 on the front face and guide vanes 30 on the rear face co-operating respectively with peripheral pockets 11 formed in a stator crown 9 and peripheral pockets 24 formed in a second stator crown 10 the stator crowns being secured to a supporting ring 8 mounted between the front shell 1 and the rear shell 2 of the stator housing. The dimensions of the second stator crown 10 and its associated pockets and guide vanes are scaled down to threequarters of the size of the stator crown 9, and its appurtenances. Each pocket 11 is bounded by a straight entry face 12, a cylindrical portion 13 and a straight exit face 14 and each entry face 12 makes with a radius drawn to it fro mthe centre of the rotor axis an acute angle larger than the acute angle made by the exit face 14 with a radius drawn to it from the centre of the the rotor axis, Fig. 3 (not shown). Each guide vane 28, Fig. 5, has front and rear faces which change in direction away from the rotor axis, the inner portion of both being substantially tangential to a radius drawn from the rotor axis merging in a smooth curve with an outer portion inclined at substantially the same angle as the entry faces of the pockets. The front face of each guide vane 30 is plane, being inclined at the same angle to a radius drawn from the rotor axis as is the entry face of the pockets 24 and th erear surface is a scaled-down version of that of the vanes 28. Material fed from a hopper 6 and disintegrated by the vanes 26 and the pockets 11 finds its way past the rotor disc 5 into the pockets 24 and fine material escapes upwardly through uptakes 34, larger particles being discharged through a grid 25 formed as a lower segment of the stator crown 10 and comprising passages having mouths 32 inclined forwards in the direction of rotation of the rotor and discharge orifices 33 disposed vertically downwards. Specification 644,387 is referred to.
