摘要： A pulling over and lasting machine is provided with an improved shoe support which facilitates presentation of a welt shoe assembly into the machine in proper positioning preparatory to the pulling over and lasting operation. The shoe support is formed to define a generally horseshoe-shaped periphery and is surrounded at its toeward end and sides by a plurality of pincers which grip and pull the margin of the shoe upper tightly about the last. The shoe support is movable between an idle position in which its toeward end is raised above the level of the pincers to facilitate placement of the shoe on the support and a lowered working position in which the pincer jaws and other shoe operating instrumentalities may perform their usual work on the shoe assembly.

摘要： The spacing between the heel and toe abutting members in a sole pressing machine is adjustable automatically to enable proper spacing of the abutting members lengthwise of shoe assemblies of varying sizes. The machine includes a pad box which supports the shoe, bottom down, below the abutting members. The pad box is movable upwardly to urge the shoe against the abutting members and to apply pressure to the bottom of the shoe. Means are provided for moving the heel and toe abutting members inwardly toward each other in response to and as the pad box moves upwardly. The inward motion of the abutting members terminates when the upwardly moving shoe engages one or both of them. This locates the abutting members in proper longitudinal spacing on the shoe so that they may properly brace the shoe against the further application of increased force against the shoe bottom. The machine also includes means for disabling the automatic adjustment for spacing the abutting members to enable the spacing to be adjusted manually.

The machine includes a beam which is mounted for movement to a desired selected location over the table and then is urged downwardly toward the table in a cutting stroke to drive the die through the sheet. Powered means are provided for swinging the beam to its desired position over the table and for effecting the cutting stroke. Control means are provided which enable the beam to be easily positioned and to effect the cutting action. The control means includes a number of features which enhance operator safety and minimize operator fatigue.

摘要： A welt shoe is pulled over and cement lasted by a technique in which the shoe bottom is supported on an expandable shoe support having a generally horseshoe-shaped periphery. The shoe is placed on the support while in its contracted configuration and the support is thereafter expanded generally, laterally to bear against the inside of the insole rib which extends downwardly from the shoe bottom. When in the contracted position, receptive to an unlasted shoe assembly, the shoe support facilitates insertion and placement of the shoe assembly in the machine. Both the method employed and a machine for effecting the method are disclosed.
