The invention relates to a clamping star-wheel for transporting containers such as bottles in a container processing system such as a beverage filling system. The clamping star-wheel comprises a continuously rotatable central star-wheel column, an upper star-wheel ring and a lower star-wheel ring that are fastened thereto and include circumferentially evenly distributed clamps disposed one above the other in pairs for laterally gripping the containers, and switching shafts oriented upright for opening, in pairs, the respective clamps disposed one above the other. According to the invention, the clamps each comprise pivotable gripping arms separately mounted radially outside of the switching shafts with respect to the star-wheel column. As a result, the range of bottle diameters that can be gripped and thus the number of container formats that can be transported can be increased.
