A composition comprising (a) an extract of a plant belonging to the family Violaceae; (b) an extract of a plant belonging to the family Myrtaceae; and one or more additional plant extracts wherein the plants are selected from the Moraceae Zingiber aceae, Hyoscamus, Asteraceae, Euphorbiaceae, Iridaceae, and/or Valeriana families. The composition is useful for preventing or ameliorating the effects of infection by a coronavirus including SARS-CoV-2.
