The invention relates to the use, for preventing the formation of deposits and/or reducing deposits in the line conveying the exhaust gases at the outlet of an engine to a device for the selective catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxides, of an aqueous composition comprising: - at least one nitrogen oxide reducing agent and/or at least one precursor of such an agent, - at least one paraffin, the C20-C36 paraffins representing at least 90% by mass of all of the paraffins present, and - at least one compound of one or more metals selected from the following metals: Fe, Cu, Ni, Co, Zn, Mn, Mg, V, Sr, Pt, Ce, Ca, Li, Na, and Nb. The present invention also relates to a method for preventing and/or reducing such deposits by injecting said aqueous composition into the line.
