The disclosure provides, among other things, humanized antibodies that bind to programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) and compositions comprising such antibodies, whereby the antibodies and/or compositions can be useful for generating a durable anti-tumor or anti-infection response. Such antibodies can be used in many pharmaceutical applications, for example, as anti-cancer agents and/or immune modulators for the treatment or prevention of human diseases such as a variety of tumors, or as anti-infection agents. The present disclosure also concerns methods of making the antibodies described herein as well as compositions comprising such antibodies. The present disclosure further relates to nucleic acid molecules encoding such antibodies and to methods for generation of such antibodies and nucleic acid molecules. In addition, the application discloses therapeutic and/or diagnostic uses of such antibodies as well as compositions comprising one or more of such antibodies.
