The invention relates to 2-amino-5-nitropyridine and barbital co-crystals with an X-ray pattern exhibiting the presence of characteristic interplanar distances amounting to: d hkl 2.966 x , 3.582 3 , 2.997 2 , 2.930 2 , 3.077 2 , 5.265 2 , 5.760 1 , 4.046 1 for the form (I), and d hkl 3.165 x , 3.050 6 , 3.117 3 , 5.117 2 , 3.274 2 , 4.819 2 , 2.767 2 , 3.461 2 for the form (II). Also, the invention relates to a method for production of 2-amino-5-nitropyridine and barbital co-crystals.
