In one example, a privacy backlight module is described which includes a first light guide plate having first prismatic structures formed on a first bottom surface. Each first prismatic structure includes a first inclined surface and a second inclined surface connected to the first inclined surface. The privacy backlight module includes a second light guide plate disposed above or below the first light guide plate and having second prismatic structures formed on a second bottom surface. Each second prismatic structure includes a third inclined surface and a fourth inclined surface connected to the third inclined surface. The privacy backlight module includes a first light source disposed along a left surface of the first light guide plate and a second light source disposed along a right surface of the second light guide plate.
