A method for bonding the tail of a convolutely wound log to the body is provided. The method comprises the use of a bonding material to bond the tail (220) to the wound log (130). The bonding material is applied to application sites (406) arranged in a non-uniform pattern. A non-adhesive phase change material is used as bonding material. The application sites might applied with different volume (amount) of bonding material.
