The present disclosure provides multiple methods and apparatuses for user equipment (UE) connection control. A UE or an eNB informs a device in a core network that the UE has an ongoing proximity-based service (ProSe) service. The device in the core network further takes whether the UE has an ongoing ProSe service into consideration when deciding whether to release a connection of the UE. The technical mechanism implements control over connections between UEs and the network, and can avoid interruption of a ProSe service of a UE resulted from erroneous release of a UE connection which causes release of ProSe resources of the UE.
