A plurality of synthetic diamond grains having a mean size of 5 to 100 microns. The crystal habits of the diamond grains are substantially cubo-octahedral, such that at least 50 per cent of the grains have a morphology index of about 3 to about 6, at least 5 per cent of the grains have a morphology index of about 2 to about 4, and at least about 20 per cent of the grains have a morphology index of about 5 to about 7. There is also disclosed a tool comprising the plurality of synthetic diamond grains.
