Electrophoresis system comprising an electrophoresis tray for receiving an electrophoresis gel cassette and an imaging unit for imaging of the electrophoresis gel, wherein the electrophoresis tray comprises a cassette support surface for supporting at least a separation zone of the electrophoresis cassette during electrophoresis, and a lid arranged to be closed over the electrophoresis cassette 10 during operation of the electrophoresis system, the lid comprising an imaging window for enabling imaging of the separation zone.
