A processor-implemented method, computer readable medium and a mobile device for disabling at least one text application on a mobile device comprising: processing an image (430) captured (425A) in a vehicle by the mobile device to identify a seat belt in the image; determining a slope of the seat belt (430) relative to a horizon, wherein the horizon is determined using information pertaining to a position and an orientation of the mobile device relative to a frame of reference (435, 440) at a time when the image was captured; determining a speed of the mobile device (415); and disabling (450,455) at least one text application (410) on the mobile device based, on the slope of the seat belt and the speed of the mobile device.
