Provided is a cylindrical rechargeable battery comprising: an electrode assembly in which a cathode plate and an anode plate are disposed with a separator placed in-between; a case for housing the electrode assembly; a cap assembly able to hermetically seal an open end of the case; and a gasket interposed between the case and the cap assembly. The gasket is formed from a macromolecular resin having a melting point of at least 200°C and a hardness of no more than 100D.
